Bibliometrics, the quantitative analysis of published research, is increasingly being used to explore, classify, and evaluate the rapidly expanding body of literature in the sciences. Individual researchers use bibliometrics to describe and promote their research. Institutions use bibliometrics to help evaluate individual researchers and to assess their research output. The NIH Library Bibliometric Services Program was launched in June 2014 to provide publication analysis services to NIH staff at all levels of the agency. We use analytics to help evaluate the publications produced by scientists, grant programs, and institutions at NIH and by the larger scientific community. We offer bibliometric consultations, training, tutorials, and custom analyses to assist NIH staff in conducting and assessing scientific research at NIH.
