ω-7 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been identified to provide effective anti-inflammatory assistance in fatty and inflammatory liver symptoms associated with alcoholic liver disease (ALD). This study examines the association between ω-7 PUFA levels and hepatic function markers including γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI), and fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) in alcohol dependent patients. A sample of 121 alcohol-dependent patients between 21 and 65 years receiving inpatient treatment underwent blood sampling on admission for ω-7 PUFAs palmitoleic acid (PMA) and vaccenic acid (VA) levels, GGT, as well as hepatic measures aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), and total platelet counts from which the APRI and FIB-4 indices of hepatic function were computed. An APRI>1.00 was set as a cutoff for high risk of cirrhosis. Stepwise linear regression analysis identified GGT as the most prominent predictor of PMA (r=0.523, p
