Abstract

Little is known about the etiology, early detection and potential prevention of malignant glioma. We conducted a prospective serum metabolomic analysis of 64 glioma cases and 64 matched controls from the ATBC Study cohort. Time from baseline fasting serum collection to diagnosis was 1-26 years (median 9 years). Ultra-high performance LC/MS identified 730 known metabolites, and conditional logistic regression estimated odds ratios (ORs) for 1-SD differences in metabolite signals on a log-scale.
