REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. While REDCap can be used to collect virtually any type of data (including 21 CFR Part 11, FISMA, and HIPAA-compliant environments), it is specifically geared to support online or offline data capture for research studies and operations. The Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology (OCICB) has a team that provides full support for REDCap users, from study conceptualization, through development and testing, to roll-out, with continued support throughout the life cycle of the study or survey. Development support includes building a database or survey, testing and validation thereof, adding user accounts, user training as well as moving the database into production. The use of REDCap can benefit your research study or survey in that it provides the ability to: • Build databases rapidly • Authenticate securely from your browser • Online and/or offline data capture using tablets (REDCap App for mobile devices) • Save data instruments/forms as PDFs for printing • Utilize calculated fields, branching/skip logic, file uploading, survey stop actions • Manage data queries • Export data in a range of formats for commonly utilized analysis packages • Automate connections from other applications through the REDCap API REDCap itself is installed on a dedicated server which is administered by OCICB staff and accessible by approved study team members.
