Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) are a regulatory mode that mandates any laboratory that gives patient results for diagnosis or treatment is held to rigorous standards and guidelines for laboratory operations. With all of the documentation and regulation that goes along with CLIA, it can sometimes be challenging to bring these laboratory developed tests (LDTs) and the labs that run them up to speed with many of the newer technologies in the field. Here, the CLIA Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory details efforts being made within the laboratory to develop cutting edge LDTs and streamlining efforts to keep the CLIA laboratory from being bogged down by the documentation.
