Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a highly aggressive cancer, accounting for 3,000 deaths in the US annually. The incidence will peak at 15-20 years in the western hemisphere. The majority of patients receive chemotherapy as treatment, but inherent chemoresistance of MPM limits efficacy. The molecular mechanism(s) of MPM resistance to chemotherapy remain poorly defined.
