Abstract

This Web-based comparison chart highlights and compares four evidence-based point-of-care resources: UpToDate, DynaMed, First Consult, and Essential Evidence Plus. These decision-support tools provide summarized clinical information for point-of-care use by physicians and other health-care professionals. Evaluation criteria include update frequency, content, content sources, evidence grading, editorial process, and format. The responses to 12 complex and general clinical questions suggested by the NIH Clinical Center Critical Care Medicine Department were used to assess and compare usability, scope of coverage, and applicability to clinical settings.
