Abstract

The NCI Office of Management Policy and Compliance (OMPC) oversees and implements management policies in support of NCI's mission. The Risk Management, Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA/OMB) Clearance, and Records Management Programs ensure compliance with Federal requirements so that research operations proceed efficiently. * Risk Management assures that risks to administrative and scientific activities are identified, reviewed, and mitigated to avoid jeopardizing the Institute's mission. * PRA/OMB (Paperwork Reduction Act/Office of Management and Budget) Clearance verifies that research questionnaires, surveys, focus groups, pre-testing, administrative forms, and progress reports issued by NCI staff, follow regulations designed to protect the public from being overburdened by information collections. * Records Management ensures that staff and contractors are knowledgeable about managing official records in all formats (paper, electronic, e-mail, x-ray, biospecimen slides, etc.) in accordance with regulations. OMPC provides information, resources, tools, guidance and assistance to NCI staff and contractors to meet compliance responsibilities effectively. For details about these and other management policy topics, contact the OMPC at 301-480-0607 or visit the NCI intranet website at http://ompc.cancer.gov/.
