The CCR Genomics Core provides investigators with rapid processing of their DNA sequence samples. Last year, over 70,000 samples were processed by the Sanger method alone. Digital Gene Expression is also offered by the Core via Nanostring nCounter Analysis, the only fully automated platform to directly count the relative abundance of each RNA transcript of interest in a biological sample. The Core also provides a location for an Agilent Microarray Scanner, Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer, and Stratagene Real Time PCR Mx3005P. Bench space is provided for sample preparation, and our staff maintains the sign up calendar for these instruments, which is open for anyone to use. New to the Core is next generation sequencing with the MiSeq system. MiSeq utilizes reversible terminator-based sequencing by synthesis chemistry that delivers read lengths of up to 2x250bp and 8Gb of data output within days. Applications include highly multiplexed PCR amplicon sequencing, FFPE-extracted DNA sequencing, whole bacterial genome sequencing, targeted custom cancer panels, de novo assembly, and 16S metagenomics. Core staff will see each experiment through from beginning to end, offering experimental design, library preparation, and bioinformatics services, as well as partnering with OSTP to provide investigators with financial support.
