Abstract

The NCI Office of Management Policy and Compliance (OMPC) oversees and implements management policies in support of NCI’s mission. The Risk Management Program, Records Management Program, and Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA/OMB) Clearance Program ensure compliance with Federal requirements so that research operations proceed efficiently. • Risk Management assures that risks to administrative and scientific activities are identified, reviewed, and mitigated to avoid jeopardizing the Institute's mission. • Records Management ensures that staff and contractors are knowledgeable about managing official records in all formats (paper, electronic, e-mail, x-ray, bio-specimen slides, etc.) in accordance with regulations. • PRA/OMB Clearance verifies that research questionnaires and surveys, including the administrative forms issued by NCI staff follow regulations designed to protect the public from being overburdened by information collections. OMPC provides information, resources, tools, guidance and assistance to NCI staff and contractors to meet compliance responsibilities effectively. For details about these and other management policy topics, contact the OMPC at 301-496-6985 or visit the NCI intranet website at http://ompc.cancer.gov/.
