Abstract

To provide radiation dose estimate for imaging procedures that include PET and CT,a procedure was developed that automatically reads the relevant data from the acquired images. Using a interactive interface, the extent of the irradiated area is identified for CT procedures. Similarly, for radiotracer doses administered via iv or otherwise, the data is collected from the scanner. Using normalized Montecarlo-simulated data specific for the scanner or for the known biodistribution of the radiotracer, dose is computed for all the relevant organs. These data is generated per radiative event. A consolidated summary can then be produced. All resulting data is dicom encoded.
