Bioinformatic Tools and Methods for the Analysis of Genome-wide Survey of Direct Target Genes by ChIP-Seq with High-throughput Sequencing |
|
Next-Generation Sequencing is an emerging technology that enables biological scientists to perform DNA sequencing in massively parallel high-throughput fashion. Its usage has been applied in many research areas such as genome sequencing and assembly, cancer gene mutation discovery, epigenetic, SNP discovery, transcriptome and gene/microRNA expression detection.
As the technology matures and its cost comes down, more and more research scientists will take advantage of the Next-Generation of sequencing. However, they will inevitably face the challenge of archiving, managing, sharing, analyzing and integrating massive amounts of data.
To help meet this challenge, we are establishing informatics tools for management, sharing, analysis and integrating of high throughput sequencing data. Here, we use an OCT-2 ChIP-Seq study as an example to illustrate how these tools could be used in supporting general research workflow as well as in helping to generate new discoveries.
