Local tissue microenvironments present the immune system with diverse requirements of local defense and tissue homeostasis. It is becoming increasingly clear that not only does the immune system impact the tissue, but the tissue also impacts the immune system in a variety of ways. This session will explore strategies that different tissues use to interact with the immune system and help direct immune responses in a tissue-specific fashion.
