High throughput methods such as protein mass spectrometry and yeast 2-hybrid analysis are yielding unprecedented amounts of data addressing physiological mechanisms in cells. Interpreting such data presents new challenges that require rethinking our standard epistemological approaches. In this symposium, we emphasize the use of large-scale data acquisition techniques and computational tools for the characterization of protein networks and their relevance to human health.
